Father’s Day watercolor card

Good morning everyone! Well watercoloring is the new rage now and I just love it!!! I decided to make a YouTube video of the process of making one. Father’s Day is coming up so I decided to make a card using the dads day Lawn Fawn stamp. There are so many different watercoloring techniques out there and I really wanted to make a nice watercolor background so I decided to use Tim holtz distress inks to achieve that look. I then stamped a few ties out with different color ink. I like simple it is but colorful. I think it’s perfect for the special man in your life. Here is the link to the video and the supplies used are in the description. I will also add them on this post. Thanks for stopping by!

VS Challenge #23 “Distress” it

Good morning everyone! It’s the 1st of the month so I have a project to share with you. For this month our theme is distressing. There are just so many different ways to distress and hard to pick one but I went for my favorite way. When I first began to craft one of the first techniques i learned was how to make the edges of your card look worn out. To do that you take your bone folder and run the edge of it against the side of the card. Of course you can buy the tool to do that but I was on a budget and I liked how it came out. Another technique that I also love to do is add some Tim holts distress ink to the sides of the card. These techniques definitely give the card a funky look that I just love.

I also added a shaker to my card because its all the rage now and i just LOOOVVVEEEE making them. Oh and my son loves it too, lol. They are fun and easy to do and I might make a video on how I did mine.  The stamps and die cuts I used are from Lawn Fawn and can be purchased in my shop. You can also purchase the floral sequins. The paper pad I used is one of my favorites from American crafts. It is the PLUS ONE amy tangerine 6×6 pad which is also available in the shop.

A little superhero

Hello crafters! Well it’s a rainy day here in NY so I decided to do some watercoloring. I colored this super cute stamp of a little boy and his dog by A Random Fan stamp(underwear hero)
I just started using watercolor pencils so I still have lots of practicing to do.
I decided to try out a shaker card using some sequins. It was pretty fun to do and will probably make a few more. I think they are perfect for kids cards. I asked my son and nephew what they thought of the card and they liked it so that’s good right!
The sequins can be purchased at my shop and unfortunately I sold out of this stamp. I also used some green twinkle sweet dots on the card which is avail in the shop. Keep a look out if I do decide to get the stamps back in stock.

“Technique” VSC Challenge #22

Good morning crafters!!! Time for another fun VSC challenge for the month. For the month of April we are showing you our favorite techniques. My problem is that I don’t just have one, I have a few but the main technique that I will talk about today is watercoloring. Recently Nicole of Sweet Designzz sent me my first set of watercolor pencils. She is such an awesome friend always thinking of others. Thanks Nicole!!! I couldn’t wait to get started. I had to do a bit of research first and also purchase some watercolor paper. I bought a small pad of paper at michaels which came with 10 sheets for like $3 bucks. It wasn’t one of the heaviest paper but it was ok. Next I had to find out what was the best type of ink to use for my stamp but unfortunately I only had momento black ink. Even though it was a fast drying ink it took a few minutes to completely dry. The best to use are ones that are fast drying and also meant for watercoloring. On the back of the ink it will say that It can be used for watercoloring like versamark fine ink.
I have taken a few photos of the process

Here are the watercolor pencils. I also used a brush pen.

For the skin color I used Golden Rod

Just like you would color with copics I did the same with the pencils and used two different colors close in color family

The other techniques I used was adding  acetate wings and I also made a sequins pocket. I will probably do another post of how I did those two techniques.

Ok so now it is time to head on over to our challenge blog and show us your techiques for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to our online store. Also don’t forget to stop by our Dt’s page for more info on the process of their fave techniques.
